To Share or not to Share on Social Media

Updated: Jan 28

We recently hosted a webinar with Cisco featuring CISO Advisor Corien Vermaak and Dr. Magda Chelly, CEO of Responsible Cyber, to discuss the topic of being an active speaker or social media advocate while also being a security professional without putting oneself or one's organization at risk.

The conversation began with a discussion on the importance of being an active speaker or advocate in the cybersecurity industry. Both Corien and Dr. Chelly highlighted the value of sharing knowledge and experiences to raise awareness about the latest trends and best practices in the industry.

However, they also acknowledged the potential risks that come with being an active speaker or advocate. They discussed how cybercriminals can use the information shared on social media to target individuals and organizations. They also highlighted the importance of being mindful of the information shared and the potential impact it may have on one's personal and professional reputation.

Corien and Dr. Chelly also touched on the importance of having a personal brand and reputation management strategy in place. They discussed the need to be aware of one's online presence and to take steps to protect it. This includes being mindful of the information shared on social media and being aware of the potential impact it may have on one's personal and professional reputation.

They also emphasized the importance of being transparent and honest when sharing information. They encouraged individuals and organizations to be open and honest about their experiences, while also being mindful of the potential impact that sharing certain information may have on their personal and professional reputation.

The webinar also covered practical tips and best practices for being an active speaker or advocate while also being a security professional without putting oneself or one's organization at risk. These included guidelines for sharing information on social media, tips for protecting one's personal and professional reputation, and best practices for managing one's online presence.

We would like to thank Corien Vermaak and Dr. Magda Chelly for sharing their expertise and insights on this important topic. We hope that the information shared during the webinar will help individuals and organizations to be more mindful of the risks associated with being an active speaker or advocate and to take steps to protect themselves and their organizations.
